It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
