From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
